"I believe that mentoring is about growing the other person holistically, which means academics and career advice, but also practical recommendations and concrete goals."

My Story

The first time I mentored someone was in high school, but I didn't realize it at the time! Helping people by asking questions and encouraging them to think is as natural to me as breathing, but it took until I was an undergraduate at MIT to realize that this was paired with an ability to write that my (exceptional!) peers sometimes lacked. As I helped my friends apply to jobs and graduate school, I realized practical, timely advice was one of my skills. The rest, as they say, is history.
